DepressionDiaries: Quest to gain weight pt. 2 & 3

Last week:

K (the woman who works with me) and I discussed my water intake and that I wasn’t drinking enough water daily, she set me a goal of drinking at least 2 cups of water a day. I met this goal by drinking all the water in my cup when I take my tablets and also the weather has been really hot here in England (something we’re not used to) so I drank more water anyway to stay hydrated.

After our discussion K checked my weight and I found that I gained half a pound by actually eating a good breakfast every day!

This week:

K was pleased with my water intake but wants me to drink at least 6-8 cups a day (should not be too hard in this weather) She then showed me an eat well plate and discussed all the different types of foods, what quantity I should  have them in and then set me a target of eating 2 portions of fruit and veg a day for the next week.

I asked K to check my weight. I’ve gained 3 pounds over the past week! it may not seem like much but that means I am in the healthy BMI for my height and no longer underweight (I had noticed that I’ve been eating more regularly recently instead of skipping lunch for work and having a tonne of biscuits in-between meals)

I still have two appointments with K to go and I would like to gain a stone (14 pounds) by the time the health programme finishes. I understand that may be overly ambitious but as long as I gain weight or stay the same weight I am now I will call that a success.

Congrats! 🙂 I’ve been underweight my entire life, and over the past 4 years I had picked up a bit, just enough to get me to a healthy BMI. But over the past few months, with everything that’s been happening, and the stress and depression, I’ve lost all of that. Now I’m also on a mission to get back to that healthy place.
